Identity Theft Explained

The Karma Of Stolen Identity

This past month and a half has been a very interesting month and I am about to tell you why. Most of my friends know that I run an identity theft information site and I’ve constantly warned them about the potential for identity fraud and how to safeguard your identity from being stolen. Most of the time, they jokingly respond with a crazy comment about how paranoid I am about this crime. Of course, any serious victim would take drastic measures to prevent this crime from happening again, and inform as many friends and relatives as possible about the importance of securing and protecting your private information.

Unfortunately, two of my closest friends that normally joke with me about my “paranoia” over identity theft, have become recent victims of stolen identity. Of course, there was that side of me that wanted to scream, “I Told You So!” and rub in their face how I have countless times tried to warn them about this crime. But, in actuality, I did the opposite. I showed sympathy and assisted both of them on their journey in recovering from this terrible fraud. They both thanked me later for all of the times I have warned them earlier about identity theft and that I am now walking them through their recovery process.
